A Spot of Unexpected Beauty

My lovely partner has little traditions that make our house a home. At Christmas, she puts green and red sugar crystals in our sugar jar, red at Valentine's, orange if she can find them at Hallowe'en.

She also keeps a tiny vase of flowers from our garden in the bathroom, on the toilet, in the months when there are flowers to be harvested.

I didn't grow up with traditions. She is continuing ones her mother had. I don't know if her mother began them or continued little moments of beauty, of small change that mark seasons and events.

There are more. We're in Toilet Flower Season.

I love it.

I love her.
